Kiskiralylany

From September 2004: On the Pest side of Budapest, sits this statue by Marton Laszlo (1989). It is called "Kiskiralylany", which is Hungarian for "little princess" (according to a Google search summary from a now-broken link). The Royal Palace can be seen in the background across the Danube river.

Graffiti in Montpellier, France

These pictures are from January 2006 in Montpellier. It's as romantic and beautiful as any town in France but, for better or worse, the most interesting art of the city was the graffiti. Since the art looks pretty good I would have guessed that it was paid for by the shop owners. But I talked to a local who said that no one was happy about it. Kids were just doing it in the dark of night.

You could almost hear Captain Bezu Fache say "... it's a scar on the face of Montpellier."
